6th grade students are working on a few color study projects. The first one they completed was using warm and cool colors in a contrasting way. This project used oil pastels and had a tree as their subject.
The next color project used only color and required students to mixed different tints and shades of that color with paint. Additional goals for the project included showing space/depth in their piece and using the space of the paper in an interesting way.
Last week students started their last color study project. This project will be using analogous colors to create a self portrait. They are just in the practice steps right now so they are starting with practicing drawing using grid reference...
The next practice steps include grid enlargement drawing, choosing analogous colors, and using analogous colors to create the illusion of form.
